Plain Brown Power is (was?) a collection of no-nonsense, feature-packed
day-to-day essentials oriented toward people who earn their living on
Windows PCs. It is non-supported, not likely to be updated, provided
as-is, and offered entirely at your own risk.
The
26 programs and packages previously offered here are now available only
as source code (see news below).

Mar
20, 2006: Source only available from this date forward
I have removed
compiled, ready-to-run applications from all packages. Uncompiled
Delphi (Object Pascal) source code is still available, but the installation
packages previously offered here are no longer available. The risk
of offering these programs without the protection of liability insurance
and commercial representation in the event of end-user litigation
is too high to justify offering these programs as ready-to-use free
or shareware software. To my knowledge, "nuisance suits"
over free source code have been dramatically less frequent than suits
over compiled applications, so I've decided to keep source available
rather than remove this section of the site altogether. |

Frames removed;
all pages in this section shifted to a table layout for higher compatibility
and fewer browsing issues, but the original look and feel is kept,
even though it's inconsistent with the cublea.net layout. |

Plain Brown
Power downloads are back online, with full source code available free
along with all software, and appropriate safeguards in place against
potential liability from software faults. The voluntary-pay model
has been converted to simple donationware, meaning that contributions
will still be accepted, but be aware that all software under the
Plain Brown Power label is offered as-is, and will not likely be updated,
maintained, or supported in any way from this point forward. DOWNLOAD
AND USE THIS SOFTWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK. |

The site and
all software was taken offline today. I have finally realized that
I can't maintain this product at the level I agreed to when I took
on this project. There is no longer a Feature Creeps to maintain the
product, this is more than I can handle on my own, and the potential
liability from software faults represents a personal financial risk
which far outweighs any potential benefit there might be from maintaining
this site. For this reason I have decided to halt development and
remove all Plain Brown Power software from distribution. Sorry...I
wish there was a better alternative, but none has appeared, and none
seems likely. |

Dec
3, 2002: New manager's note
After taking
the time to fully acquaint myself with the state of the product on
this site, I realize now that it doesn't meet the standards that The
Feature Creeps had hoped to achieve, and doesn't fully live up to
some promises and implied performance. I have several projects on
the go at the moment, but I will be doing what I can, when I can,
to bring existing software up to the level where the original team
would have wanted it before releasing any new software packages. Please
be patient, as I am not as capable a programmer as the previous lead
developer. |

The Feature
Creeps' assets are now under the management and maintenance of former
partner Cub Lea in the absence of a new
owner. Software updates are now in progress and registrations are
once again being accepted. The current revenue model is now voluntary-pay
rather than pure shareware, and updates and software maintenance will
be provided as and when Lea is able with new products only at his
discretion. |
