| Model: | 2001 Ford GT-90 #062 |
| Description: | Did you know this is actually a descendent of the legendary GT-40? I believe this is a Carol Shelby creation, and if so, it's a functional GT racer that needs a rear wing, because it looks simply awful as-is. This exercise in turd-polishing is only for the desperate; if you want a stripped look, get the white First Edition, which even uses more appropriate wheels. |
| Level of difficulty: | Expert. Thin white enamel easily strips to bare metal beneath this tough paint. |
| Options: | As shown; also, removal of the center Tampos from the hood in favor of the side Tampos provides a different esthetic balance that should work. |
| Watch for: | Everything. The gold and blue are both tough paint formulations that do not come off easily or quickly, and leave behind flecks that will scare you to death in the sharp grooves around the doors. The lower left examples hide a lot of tiny imperfections where I stripped the paint to bare metal despite my most ginger attempts to remove all paint. Regular nail polish remover wouldn't have helped; that type of solvent is tough on this white enamel. |
