Plug-in
Name: |
Effect
Produced: |
 |
Beans
to You |
Tracks
seem faster and clearer with no tempo change, and only a mild excitation
added to the top end. The effect is similar to Coffee Perk
but considerably more pronounced...less intense than Speed Freak
and when used with Phenobarbi-doll the effects seem to cancel
each other out. Overuse of the Beans... plug-in on a project
can lead to high sound pressure levels, irritating noise, and in extreme
cases, hard attacks. Tracks effected using the Pharmo Beans preset
are processed at approximately four times the intensity of the Over-the-Counter
preset. Set the intensity dial to No-Doze and it makes even the most
boring tracks at least mildly interesting. |
 |
Beer Barrel
|
Adds a mellow,
woozy feeling. Glacier Lager setting can nicely cool down a hot track,
but be careful of the Munich Hofbrau and Canadian Moosehead settings!
They'll really sneak up on you if you apply too much too quickly...especially
on an empty stomach! |
 |
Boonngg
|
This
effect defies description...there really is nothing quite like it, and after
extensive psychoacoustic analysis of our own code, we don't even
know quite what it does. But oh man, does it ever feel good! Listeners find
tracks processed with this effect hilarious, but have no idea why. It's
perfect for making a five-minute song sound two minutes long, or for mixing
down self-important pop music that everyone but the performer finds totally
forgettable. High settings may distort the timing and musical space of a
track without warning, but listeners often don't notice until long after
they've heard the track. The Boonngg plug-in produces a heavier,
more cerebral effect than Hash It Out which uses the same
core effect code. |
 |
Coffee
Perk |
Wakes up any
track just enough to grab the listener's attention, with a wide range of
intensities from Faerie Tea to Expresso-by-the-Quart. This
is a faithful digital rendition of a favorite voice effect used for decades
in mixing drivetime radio. Excessive settings tend to make tracks sound
irritating. |
 |
Coke
|
This
algorithm is a faithful reproduction of the black-box mixing effect that
made the LA sound. Just the right amount will adds a clear, transparent,
uplifting sheen to any track, turning the dullest pop into Steely Dan. (Yes,
that's how they did it!) Listeners report that they positively love
the effect, but be warned: it wears off quickly, and it's very expensive
in terms of CPU usage. |
 |
Control
Shroom |
A convolving/transforming
effect that adds enormous color and other-worldliness to just about any
track. Lower settings on the Quantity dial add a unique harmonic synthesis
that makes music clearer and richer; higher settings radically transform
the track. This is the mildest of the convolving/transforming group in the
TrueHit collection, but that doesn't mean it's also the safest! Contrived
pop and country turn into a paranoid horror show when processed through
this filter, but more creative compositions sound enhanced and take on an
added depth. You'll know you're "keepin' it real" if your tracks
sound better through this filter. |
 |
Crack
House |
The high-potency,
rapid-attack version of the Coke plug-in. Dangerous and
extremely addictive. It's a stone favorite of rap/hip-hop producers for
its ability to add instant confidence and intensity to dubious material,
and it makes virtually any track sound like a sure-fire hit...but only
for as long as the music plays. We recommend using this very sparingly;
engineers who used the beta version found it unbelievably addictive. It's
also the most CPU-intensive plug-in in the collection. At the highest
intensity settings, it will demand a separate PC for each individual track
and all the processing speed you can throw at it, chewing through your
money faster than a Fabergé egg habit.

Ellis D.
|
Dr. Leary,
I presume! This is the wildest and most sophisticated convolution/transformation
filter in the collection, the most demanding on your ears, and also the
most satisfying when it's set correctly for the track being processed. No
matter what you put through this plug-in, we guarantee that it will never
sound quite the same again afterward. Vary the Quantity setting from Club
Grade (mild coloration and "trace echoes") to Ego Annihilation
(the resulting track will be nothing like you thought the original was).
And for version 1.1, you can now vary the Quality Spectrum from Brown (ugly,
frightening results) to Clear Light (maintains channel balance at even the
highest Quantity settings). It may seem slow to begin processing, but when
this effect kicks in, it's a wild ride with the longest, richest reverberations
you've ever heard, tasted, and smelled. Dial in too much intensity with
this plugin and your listeners will hear God (Clear Light setting) or something
vaguely resembling a Nazi propaganda speech sung by Bob Dylan (Brown setting).

Gloo
Huffa |
A
favorite for punk rock, Southern trash, oi and slack. Dial in just a touch
to add a disorienting stink to the processed track. Dial in a lot, and the
listener won't even know if it's music. Use of this plug-in on extended
trance tracks could damage your synth brain. If you fancy this effect, you'll
love the esthetic touch we added with the Solvent dial...whether you use
the Paint Thinner, Gasoline or Model Cement presets,
the effect is exactly the same! |
 |
Hash It
Out |
A mellow,
dreamy effect with just the right touch of unreality. A less intense, less
other-worldly version of Boonngg. Try the Afghani Dreams algorithm
on the Sultan's Hookah preset for truly wild trance tracks. Too much
of this effect, or just extended use, could leave the listener feeling burned
out. You'll love the way you can feel this in your body when processed tracks
are played through good subwoofer systems. |
 |
Laughing
Gas |
A
special-purpose plugin that swirls the track into chaos like a barrel of
sugar-frosted pingpong balls. Short rise, fast release. High settings over
long periods could suffocate an instrument. It's an acquired taste, and
not an effect you'll want to use often, but it's definitely a lot more fun
than a trip to the dentist. We've also added a plug-in-within-a-plug-in
here: select the Nitrous Bottle preset for a truly ear-pinning power
effect, especially with speed metal and garage. |
 |
Moonshiner
|
Having trouble
wringing feeling out of a stiff track? This'll loosen it up jez' fine,
thankya neighbor. If your tracks stand up straight at the One Snort intensity
setting, they'll surely be sloppy and sentimental at the Three Snort setting.
Use with caution...prolonged use can result in dry sound and headaches in
listeners. |
 |
Natural
High |
This
is the plug-in to pick when your audio has to trip without going anywhere
at all. Guaranteed non-toxic, but be warned: use the Subliminal Bleed dial
with care if you don't want an unpleasant visit from the FCC. Varying the
Enkephalins, Endorphins, Good Health and Spirituality controls can evoke
everything from gentle breezy sweeps to self-righteous aggression (just
the thing for grrrl pop) to a nauseating womb-like rocking gurgle that makes
even AC/DC sound like James Taylor. |
 |
New Religion
|
Our most potent
"transparent" plug-in, made all the more powerful with the addition
of an enhanced Subliminal Bleed control from the Natural High
plug-in. Set the right Divine Fear/Divine Love balance to give the material
anything from an airy uplift to a truly compelling darkness; crank up the
Evangel control for effects ranging from a slight uplift to fanatical rapture.
Some truly bizarre effects are achievable by blending heavy Divine Love
with a high negative value on the Good/Evil balance dial. Overuse may cause
a desire to force the effect on inappropriate tracks. Well suited to gospel
and "message" rap, and the effect you must have if you record or
produce commercial advertising. |
 |
Peyote-payola
|
The
strangest of our convolver/transformer filters. Using a process that not
even our dev team understands, it dries out the wettest tracks, strips them
down to base musical forms and transforms them into unique and intense structures,
enhancing the color and detail and producing everything from delightful
"ghost" instruments to the most repulsive aliasing and artifact
effects you've ever heard. The right setting exposes underlying meaning
in tracks that even the composer didn't know was there. Just the thing for
adding a heavy, mystical tone to meaningless fluff. |
 |
Phenobarbi-doll
|
Can't bring
a hyperactive beat under control? Studio musicians playing too tight for
the tune? Got a sappy lovesong that sounds more like a rave-up? This will
bring any material down, or put it right out as you get closer to
the Overdose setting on the Quantity dial. Not recommended if your music
is already putting listeners to sleep. It's the perfect antidote for a stressful
mix, even if it isn't very productive. A very popular effect on Spanish-language
radio for decades, now brought into the digital domain. |
 |
Republican
|
Here's
the secret to achieving that "retro sound" of 1950s MOR vinyl and radio
without putting on a suit and tie. On the wrong material, it's more irritating
than a sandpaper back massage, but you'll find that those with the money
to buy your material will love you for it. High Stiffen settings
transform ethereal synth tracks into Sousa marches; the Jingo dial adds
anywhere from a touch of stridency to an overwhelming aural prejudice. Our
proprietary Confidence control selectively boosts the ugliest audio content
and buries complexity; not exactly artistic, but boy, does it sell! We recommend
caution with this plug-in; long-term exposure could result in intolerance
and gun lust. |
 |
Salvia-tion
|
An all-new
effect created specifically for TrueHit. A relatively obscure-sounding plug-in
that sounds not unlike Boonngg but with its own unique convolution
filter. Use with caution; the Vaporizer mode setting could produce berserk
distortion and make the listener forget they ever heard the track. |
 |
Speed
Freak |
The perfect
effect for high-energy music...this will make even the sappiest folk music
sound punk. Enhances clarity; adds a sharpness and energy to any audio
content. Requires a very careful parameter selection; it's so effective
that
you'll notice - and judge - every little mistake, and so will your listeners.
Often makes tracks seem as though they "say" more than they do. High Intensity
and Duration settings will add ghost voices to even the simplest audio
material. AV producers report one odd application: apparently it imparts
a calming effect to children's music.
|
 |
Technical
Xtasy |
One of the
hottest, most-requested of today's effects done with a purity that you'll
appreciate. Produces bass so physical that almost seems to bathe your blood
in the beat. Enhances highs so much that you'll never want to bring the
top end down. Brings a physicality and transparent convolution to almost
any audio material. Erotic, hypnotic, clear, uplifting. When applied to
solo tracks the listener tends to feel "cheated". |
 |
Valium
Girl |
Elton
John's most carefully-guarded studio secret from the 1970s is now available
for digital recording! No matter how annoying, off-key or irritating the
track, by the time you hit 50mg on the Quantity dial, anything you feed
through it will sound sweet...and if it doesn't, the listener won't care.
Makes tonal colorations tend to sound brighter and clearer, and while it
doesn't hide mistakes in the mix, listeners - and clients - won't care. |
