"...a few of my favorite things..."

Since its earliest days as one of the first-ever free websites on Volant Turnpike in 1994 to its peak in 2004 as a 1,500-plus-page, quarter-gigabyte behemoth, cublea.net has been a bizarre and adventurous creative masturbation...which, unfortunately, all too often tended to look like the mess that such an act leaves behind.

I've reached the point where I can't adequately catalogue or index the entire contents of this site on a single page, or even prioritize it in any way that fits well with what visitors are likely to appreciate.

So...well...fuck it. I'm not going to try to guess your tastes. Instead, here's a brief list of some of the content that I'm most proud of, the stuff that I like most.

  • Community Consignment Done Right!: A carefully-structured skeleton business plan for perhaps the least cost-intensive storefront retailing category around today, and all the information you need to make it not merely profitable, but franchisable. Infomercial-grade entrepreneurial how-to, absolutely free on cublea.net.
  • "EWMZ Radio Midiwarez Aircheck" | "Dr. Heat's Relationship Dynamite": A pair of truly funny mp3's for your listening pleasure, both developed for a monthly creative competition in which every submission must be taken from concept to finished product in just 24 hours. I WANT A WRITING JOB!! Here's the evidence that I can do the work.
  • The Buzzword Lab: Finally, an emotionally-honest dictionary. Learn geek-speak from someone who hates the jargon even more than you do.
  • Performance Comedy by Cub Lea: I hope this eventually becomes the nucleus of my professional website.
  • A Neurological Model of Psychological Trauma and Treatment: Because I couldn't find another page on the web that explained in simple terms how these things actually work in the human brain.
  • "Take These Chains" | "Only Time Will Tell": Two of the best songs I ever wrote, both medium-fidelity and full-length. Damn shame they're both over 20 years old. Here's small (1.2MB mono), somewhat higher-quality "K-Tel sampler" of ten of my best songs..
  • "I Got Nothing to Say That You Want to Hear": A rough rock track with a spotty vocal, but proof enough for me that I can still write a decent song. Full length (6 minutes), high fidelity (5.5MB).

Fairly pedestrian stuff, huh? Well, I've got about ten times the material in reserve that I've got on the site at this time. I've been quite ill for the last several years and I haven't been willing to post the more bizarre bits and pieces; I wasn't in a position to benefit from them, and I didn't want to read the feedback from pissed-off visitors. So this list should grow over the next few months, and by the time it's up-to-date, I promise that phrase "bizarre and adventurous" won't seem nearly as inappropriate as it might look here.

It may not have escaped your notice that I haven't said a single word here about the largest section on the site (by a wide margin at 91MB and nearly 800 unique pages): Mudge's Diecast Customs. Diecast collecting has been occupational therapy for me over the last ten years as I've been recovering from a near-fatal illness. It's been a timewaster and a painkiller...a hobby interest, nothing more. My real passions are creative development, performance and the income which accrues if you execute both at a high level.
