This is a pretty standard publisher's catalog sheet, or at least it was at the time. Desktop publishing is beginning to make heavy demands on the graphics talents of small publishers in addition to all the other skills needed. Once again, apologies for the rendering...all remaining promotional materials for The Ultimate Shopper were destroyed several years ago.

Here's a book that promises to show the way to big savings of both time and money for practically every consumer, from the hard-core pennypincher and the harried husband and wife of a two-income household to the laziest impulse shopper and the carefree first-time householder. "The Ultimate Shopper" tries hard to be the revolutionary volume its title might suggest, and author Steve Winter claims his ideas should require less total effort than most consumers currently expend. He readily admits that budgetting and making do with less are already dealt with in many other books, so he's tried to fill in what he sees as the gaps in most consumers' knowledge and create his vision of how the super-consumer of tomorrow can take full advantage of the marketplace.
The first half of the book is an unusual 10-point program of moneysaving techniques designed primarily for grocery shopping. On the surface the ideas seem fairly obvious, but Winter has developed them far beyond what most shoppers probably know and makes it all seem as simple as clipping a coupon. The second half covers more specialized topics, such as forming a buying group, the finer points of buying secondhand goods, and tips and tricks for saving money on nearly everything not covered by the first section. The entire book is liberally sprinkled with several hundred of the most unusual and ingenious "handy hints" to be found anywhere and includes an index.
As the author himself says, it should save an awful lot of people an awful lot of money. In fact, the publisher, Living Skill Books, is offering a moneyback guarantee that it will effortlessly save the reader at least $500 a year.
Reverse side
The reverse side of the catalog sheet was printed with the front-page Saturday supplement feature written about the book and its author in the Toronto Sun. Why waste paper and postage when you can add to the hype so cheaply?
